SPORTING WAS THE BRACARA CUP 22 CHAMPION

Back to it´s physical format, this year’s edition of the Bracara Cup tournament took place in Vila Nova de Famalicão and in the city of Braga. Thus, the first three days of competition were played at the Academia do Futebol Clube de Famalicão, and the final two games were decided at the 1º de Maio Stadium, in Braga.

Right at the beginning of the tournament, Sporting CP closed the day with a double victory. In the morning, they beat Länk FC VV by 3-0 and, in the afternoon, they beat Vitória SC by 2-0. PSV Eindhoven also came out on top, taking a win against FC Famalicão.

On the second day of the tournament, PSV Einhoven got off to a flying start with a 2-0 win over Vitória SC, while Sporting drew 1-1 against FC Famalicão.

The last day in Famalicão ended with a draw between Sporting CP and PSV Eindhoven (0-0), in an excellent game between both teams.

All in all, the final decisive duel for the 1st and 2nd place in the podium, was set between the team of Sporting CP and the team of PSV Eindhoven, and the third place final between FC Famalicão and Vitória SC.

Emotions were running high in Braga, both for the fans and the athletes who gave their all in this last round.

In the first match, FC Famalicão beat Vitória SC by 4-1 in a very exciting game, reaching the third place of the podium and taking home the bronze.

Meanwhile, the fight for the trophy lasted until the last second. At the final whistle the score was 0-0, but in the penalty shootout Sporting CP took the lead with 4 points, in contrast with PSV Eindhoven’s 3 points. As a result, Sporting became the winner of the Bracara Cup 22 trophy.
